Frequently Asked Questions

A green underline.

Do you have a question? Feel free to give us a call and also take a look at some of our most frequently asked questions.

  • What is Health First Colorado?

Health First Colorado is the official name for Colorado's Medicaid program. It provides health coverage to eligible low-income adults, children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with disabilities. If you have Medicaid in Colorado, you have Health First Colorado.

  • What is a RAE and why does my card say Colorado Access, CCHA, or RMHP?

RAEs, Regional Accountable Entities, are organizations that coordinate physical and behavioral health care for Medicaid members by region. Which RAE you're assigned to depends on the county you live in. CCT is in-network with all three Colorado RAEs: Colorado Access, Colorado Community Health Alliance (CCHA), and Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP). Regardless of which name appears on your card, we can see you.

  • Is there a copay for mental health visits with Medicaid?

Most Health First Colorado members have no copay or a very minimal one for outpatient behavioral health visits. Confirm your specific cost-sharing by calling the number on your card.

  • Does Medicaid cover telehealth mental health services in Colorado?

Yes. Health First Colorado covers telehealth for outpatient behavioral health visits, making it easier to access care regardless of where in Colorado you live.

  • Do I need a referral to get started?

In most cases, no. Medicaid members in Colorado can typically access outpatient behavioral health services directly without a referral from a primary care provider. If you're unsure, call the number on your Health First Colorado card to confirm.
