What UHC and UMR Cover at Calm Clarity Therapy

UnitedHealthcare and UMR plans typically include coverage for outpatient behavioral health services, including:

  • Individual therapy with a licensed therapist or clinical social worker
  • Psychiatric medication management with a PMHNP
  • Telehealth visits for both services

UHC offers a broad range of plan types including PPO, HMO, and Choice Plus. UMR administers self-funded employer plans, which often carry their own specific benefit structures. Your copay, deductible, and visit limits will depend on your specific plan. To review your behavioral health benefits, call the member services number on your insurance card or log into myuhc.com or umr.com.

A note on Optum: UnitedHealthcare and UMR use Optum as their behavioral health benefits administrator. If your mental health claims are processed through Optum, CCT works within that network as well.

Referral Requirements Can Vary by Plan

Whether a referral is required depends on your specific plan type. UHC PPO and Choice Plus members can typically schedule directly with a mental health provider. HMO members may need a referral or prior authorization from their primary care physician. UMR plans vary by employer, so it's worth a quick call to member services to confirm before booking.

  • What is the difference between UHC, UMR, and Optum?

UnitedHealthcare (UHC) is the insurance carrier for individual and employer-sponsored commercial plans. UMR is UHC's administrator for self-funded employer plans, your card may say UMR even though your benefits are ultimately backed by your employer. Optum is UHC's behavioral health division and processes mental health claims for many UHC and UMR members. CCT works within all three networks.

  • Does my UMR plan cover mental health services?

Most UMR plans include behavioral health benefits, but coverage specifics are set by your employer. Check umr.com or call the number on your card to confirm your outpatient mental health benefits before scheduling.

  • Does UHC cover telehealth mental health visits in Colorado?

Yes, most UHC and UMR plans cover telehealth for outpatient behavioral health services. Confirm your specific telehealth benefits through your member portal or member services.

  • What if I've struggled to find an in-network UHC provider in Colorado?
